The experience

About this tour

Taroudant is often called Little Marrakech — a walled city with 7 kilometres of red-mud ramparts, grand gates and busy Berber souks, but without the crowds of its more famous neighbour. It makes an excellent full-day trip from Agadir, and this tour combines it with the nearby Tiout oasis.

On the drive there, you'll stop to photograph the famous tree-climbing goats in the argan forests. In Taroudant, you explore the ramparts and the medina's two souks, which are known for silver jewellery, leather and hand-woven carpets — at prices generally lower than in Agadir.

After lunch at a hilltop kasbah in Tiout overlooking the palm grove, a guide walks you through the oasis with its 3,000 palm trees and ancient irrigation channels. There's an optional donkey ride through the groves for those who want the local experience.
